Dr. Priya Govender.

Dr. Priya Govender obtained her MbChB from the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine, Natal University in 2001. She graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the top prize in Surgery in her final year, as well as awards in Clinical Medicine. She completed her internship at the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town in 2002, and, went on to complete her community service at the Prince Mshiyeni Hospital in Kwazulu-Natal in 2003. She managed the surgical rehabilitation ward during this time. Thereafter, she was employed as a Medical Officer in the Renal Unit of Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital from January 2004 to July 2004.

She was responsible for managing the haemodialysis unit during this time, and was part of the renal transplant assessment committee. Dr Govender then began her registrar training in Radiology in July 2004 and qualified in Diagnostic Radiology in 2008 through the College of Radiologists of South Africa. She subsequently joined the Radiology Department of Helen Joseph Hospital and Rahima Moosa Hospital in 2008, as a consultant. She went on to become a dedicated mammography specialist, with more than 12 years experience. She was Head of the Mammography Department at the Helen Joseph Hospital, and worked closely with Professor Carol-Ann Benn and Dr. Sarah Rayne for many years at the Breast Care Centre of Excellence in Helen Joseph Hospital. She was responsible for the training of radiology registrars in Mammography and supervision of junior consultants. She also consults on cases from other hospitals. She was also invited by Society of Radiographers to be a speaker at their breast seminar. She has vast experience in mammographic procedures, has attended the Laszlo Tabar Breast Imaging Conferences, and was recently invited to Dubai to attend a breast workshop.

Dr. K Spiegal-Moyal

Dr. K Spiegal qualified MBBCh from University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in 1997, winning the Smith and Nephew award for orthopaedics. She completed her internship at the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital in 1998, and community service medical officer time at Helen Joseph hospital in 1999 which included the fields of orthopaedics and intensive care.She continued with a 6 month senior house office (SHO) post in Paediatrics at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital in Johannesburg. She completed her registrarship and qualified in Diagnostic Radiology in 2004 through the Colleg of Radiologists of South Africa.Between 2004 and 2009 she continued as a consultant radiologist at the Helen Joseph hospital progressing to senior consultant and acting clinical head of the radiology department. Keren has been in her current position as specialist radiologist at Rosebank Radiology since August 2009. She has a special interest in multimodality breast imaging and intervention for diagnosis of breast disease, musculoskeletal ultrasound and MRI imaging as well as virtual colonoscopy imaging.She has completed a number of related courses including Multimodality Detection and Diagnosis of Breast Disease by Laszlo Tabar and Advanced Orthopaedic and Joint MRI By Pomeranz Proscan imaging in Chicago USA. Keren has a number of publications to her name in the South African Journal of Radiology and in the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, Australia and new Zealand.

Breast for Life is centrally located in the North of Johannesburg between the CBD and Sandton. It is situated in the Rosebank district, close to the M1 Highway. The Centre is on the first floor with ample parking facilities available to our patients. The Breast for Life department is upmarket, secure and totally private; with a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. There is internet access while you wait for your appointment. Parking tickets are validated by Breast for Life as a service to our patients.
